SBIG Telescope Port Splitter
This accessory is a more robust replacement of the dual relay ribbon cable.
The Telescope Port Splitter is designed to reduce CFW8A and AO-7 cable failure over time
due to flexing. It also adds an extra RJ-11 outlet and four red LED indicator lights
to give a visual confirmation of the camera's relay activity.
The CFW8A, Relay Adapter Box and AO-7 all share the same port on the camera.
If you have any combination of two or more of these accessories connected to the
camera at the same time, the port splitter should be used. The dual relay ribbon
cable will continue to be supplied with each accessory as a temporary connector so that
you can use the equipment out of the box, but the port splitter is highly recommended for
long term use.
The Telescope Port Splitter connects directly to the 9-pin
"AO/CFW/SCOPE" connector on the bottom of the camera and is held securely with
two screws that feed through the splitter box. The Telescope Port Splitter provides
three 9-pin ports for attaching a CFW8A, AO-7, and Relay Adapter Box simultaneously.
An additional RJ-11 port is provided for direct connection of the camera to the
telescope drive without a Relay Adapter Box or other device in between.
Each of the four red LEDs will light whenever its corresponding +x, -x, +y, or -y
relay is activated by the camera. This can be very helpful when trouble shooting
guiding problems by confirming that all of the camera relays are working properly.
No external power or battery is required.
The Telescope Port Splitter has been made to attach to the camera without
interfering with an other connection or accessory, even on the older parallel cameras.
